Cinema Politica will wade into the Enbridge pipeline debate by screening the documentary On The Line this week.
Produced by Vancouver?s Frank Wolf, the film features Wolf and his friend Todd McGowan as they hike, bike, raft and canoe the route of the proposed Enbridge Northern Pipeline from Bruderheim, Alberta to Kitimat, B.C. Along this 2,400 kilometre journey, they interview the locals to get feedback on the effects this $5.5 billion pipeline would have on their way of life.
?We chose this film because the issue of pipelines transporting tar sand crude is in the public spotlight in the Lower Mainland with the Kinder Morgan proposal to twin the Trans Mountain pipeline,? said Oosha Ramsoondar, with Cinema Politica?s Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows chapter.
?There are many questions we need to ask and have answered.?
The guest speaker at the event will be Ben West with the Western Canada Wilderness Committee.
? On The Line screen Thursday, May 17 at Maple Ridge municipal hall, 11995 Haney Place. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The film begins at 7 p.m.
